Breaking News! Yahoo Wants to be Digg! And So Does Ask! And So Does Netscape! Are We Spotting A Trend Yet?

This just in.  The answer to all of Yahoo!'s problems is to become more like Digg.

Ummmm....

Wasn't that previously also the plan for Ask.com?

And, wasn't that also previously the plan for Netscape?  Later shuttered.  Then later relaunched as propeller.

C'mon guys.  Do you really think cloning Digg is the answer to everything?

Sure, Digg is darn cool.

And sure, innovation is the sincerest form of flattery.

But how about a little original innovation?

If Yahoo is serious about social media, why just toe dip?  Why not fire the entire Yahoo editorial team, save a ton of cash, and just have users program the entire site?

Seriously, rather than trying to be Digg, why not come up with your own better than Digg?
